Beaded Moccasin Class Continues For Families In Bismarck
Weekly sessions at Native American Development Center offer instruction and open work time through April

A beaded moccasin making class will continue in April at the Native American Development Center in Bismarck, offering weekly sessions for families, according to a Native Inc. Community Development Corporation flyer. Classes are scheduled from 5:30 to 9 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays with instruction, while Fridays are reserved as open work time without instruction. Dates include Wednesdays on April 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29, Thursdays on April 9, 16, 23 and 30 and Fridays on April 3, 10, 17 and 24.
The class is led by Denise McKay, an enrolled member of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe with more than 40 years of experience as a bead artist and seamstress. Participants will learn stitching techniques, pattern use and cultural teachings related to moccasin design. Materials are provided and no prior experience is required.
