Buffalo’s Fire launches paid internship for tribal students

Buffalo’s Fire will launch a monthlong paid media internship program in June for students interested in independent media and community journalism, according to a program flyer. The Native-led digital news outlet, based in Bismarck, North Dakota, will offer one position for a high school student at $14 per hour and one for a tribal college student at $18 per hour. Interns will work about 20 hours per week and may participate remotely or in a hybrid format.

Participants will rotate through departments and gain experience in social media, audience development, community engagement, fundraising and editorial work, according to the flyer. Interns will also contribute to coverage of the 150th commemoration of the Battle of the Little Bighorn and may produce a published article. Applicants must submit a 500–700 word essay outlining their interest and experience.
