Cheyenne And Allied Tribes Invited To Camp Along Little Bighorn River During 150th Anniversary Commemoration
Weeklong camp will include cultural activities, presentations and community gatherings near Garryowen

Cheyenne and allied tribes are invited to camp along the Little Bighorn River from June 21-27, 2026, as part of the "Commemoration of the 150th Anniversary of the Battle Where Long Hair Was Wiped Out," according to an event flyer. The flyer states that the Real Bird family is welcoming Cheyenne, Lakota and Arapaho people to camp on private land along the west bank of the Little Bighorn River near Garryowen. Camping is free and cultural activities will be allowed at the site.
Activities are scheduled to include memorial horseback rides, a victory dance, a round dance, community feasts, a 5K race and health walk, historical presentations, oral history and storytelling sessions, battlefield tours and language preservation activities.
