Cheyenne and Friends announce events for Battle of the Little Bighorn 150th anniversary

Cheyenne and Friends has released a schedule of events commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Battle of the Little Bighorn, with activities planned June 21-27, 2026, near the Little Bighorn Battlefield. According to the event schedule, tribal camp circles will be established near the Real Bird Reenactment grounds, and programming will include cultural workshops, historical presentations, tours, ceremonies, runs and commemorative gatherings.

Scheduled events include the "Becoming Warriors Again" cultural resilience workshop, equine therapy demonstrations, a battlefield and valley tour from the Cheyenne perspective, a sunrise ceremony, a commemoration horse ride and a victory dance. The schedule also lists a film festival, poetry and author readings, a 5K run and presentations on historical topics. According to the event information, some activities are open to the public while others are intended for tribal participants and require registration.
