Lakota Powwow Scheduled For June 20 In Rapid City
Event at Central Fairgrounds to feature dancing, singing, vendors and a ceremony honoring combat veterans and their families

A Lakota Powwow is scheduled for June 20, 2026, at the Central Fairgrounds in Rapid City, South Dakota, according to event materials. The event will run from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m., with Native American vendors participating from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The powwow will include a grand entry, traditional dancing, drum contest singing, food and family activities. Event materials state the gathering will focus on “honoring our ancestors, celebrating our culture, inspiring our future.” A Waktegli ceremony is also planned for combat veterans and their families. The event is open to the public and will take place at the Central Fairgrounds in Rapid City. The event materials encourage attendees to “come dance,” “come sing” and “come together.”
