Riders from multiple tribal communities will travel to Montana ahead of the 150th anniversary commemoration

Homeland rides planned for Battle of Little Big Horn commemoration

Multiple horseback rides are being organized as part of the "Victory at Greasy Grass" commemoration scheduled for June 23-26, 2026, in Montana, according to event information provided by organizers. The announcement states that riders from Green Grass to the Greasy Grass will depart June 6. Additional rides are planned from the Santee Sioux Tribe, Dakota 38 + 2 rides, Bridger, South Dakota, and Standing Rock.

The Second Annual Warrior Trail ride from Eagle Butte, South Dakota, to Ashland, Montana, will be coordinated by Kermit Miner and Bryce Little Thunder. The ride from Bridger will be coordinated by Hermus Red Horse, while the Standing Rock ride will be led by Elton Yellow Earring. Organizers state that all riders will meet in Ashland before continuing to the battlefield together. The posted schedule includes stops in Lame Deer, Busby and Crow Agency.
