Rosebud Battle Commemoration Planned June 17 At Rosebud Battlefield
The event will mark the 150th anniversary of the Rosebud Battle with a horseback ride, re-enactment, victory dance and community meal

A commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the Rosebud Battle is scheduled for June 17, 2026, at Rosebud Battlefield, according to an event announcement from organizers. The event, titled "Where the Girl Saved Her Brother," will begin with an 8 a.m. horseback ride from Trail Creek to Rosebud Battlefield. Horse riders are expected to arrive at the battlefield at 1 p.m.
A re-enactment of "Where the Girl Saved Her Brother" will take place near Kobold Buffalo Jump, followed by a victory dance at 2 p.m. and a feast at 3 p.m. The announcement also lists Dr. Leo Killsback of the Northern Cheyenne as a speaker. Organizers state that the event is open to the public and invites horseback riders to participate.
