Volunteers are being asked to help gather tipi poles and willows in Montana ahead of 150th Battle of the Little Big Horn commemorations

Rosebud Sioux Tribe seeks volunteers to harvest tipi poles for Little Bighorn anniversary events

The Rosebud Sioux Tribe 150th Victory Day Executive Planning Committee is seeking 20 volunteers to travel to Montana to assist with harvesting tipi poles and willows for the 150th Battle of Little Big Horn event, according to an event announcement released by the committee.

According to the announcement, volunteers will depart from Rosebud at 8 a.m. June 14 and travel to Montana, with an overnight stay in Billings. Harvesting activities are scheduled for June 15 and 16 and include camp setup, prayer led by Richard Moves Camp, harvesting work periods and meal breaks. The announcement states volunteers will take down camp and deliver poles to Crow Agency on June 17. Interested participants are asked to contact Mike Burbank or Jordan Poignee to reserve a spot.
