Panel To Discuss Indigenous Data Sovereignty In Journalism At Tucson Summit
Panel will explore Indigenous data sovereignty, media collaboration and data reporting practices at April 15 summit session

A panel discussion on Indigenous data sovereignty in journalism and media is scheduled for April 15, 2026, at the Casino del Sol Conference Center in Tucson, Arizona, according to event materials. The session, titled “Shared Narratives, Shared Power: Amplifying Perspectives and Practices for Indigenous Data Sovereignty in Journalism and Media,” will take place from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m. as part of the U.S. Indigenous Data Sovereignty and Governance Summit.
The panel is hosted by NativeBio and supported by The MacArthur Foundation. It will be moderated by Ashlynn Gerth, PhD, and feature Mark Trahant, former editor-in-chief of Indian Country Today and board chair of IndiJ Public Media; Jodi Rave Spotted Bear, editor-in-chief of Buffalo’s Fire and founder and director of the Indigenous Media Freedom Alliance; and Levi Rickert, editor-in-chief of Native News Online, according to event materials.
