Protest Planning Meeting: April 12, 2023, 5:00 p.m., Water Chief Hall, Mandaree, N.D.

About the Protest Meeting

On Sat., May 27, at 9:00 a.m., we will set up to protest and demonstrate on the east end of the Four Bears Bridge. The walk begins at 9:30 a.m. sharp! Have signs or banners in hand at the bridge.

The protest at the Four Bears Casino will start from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the sidewalk area north end of the casino.

The following needs will be discussed at the meeting:

  • Need a drum and singers to attend
  • Patrol cars in front and back of demonstrators
  • water bottles and drinks for demonstrators in attendance
  • Flatbed pickup truck and PA system

We are currently accepting volunteers and demonstrators for the protest - come sign-up!

The purpose of the protest will be to let our membership and the public know we are standing up against the Tribal Council and the Four Bears Casino, which is misspending our money and not acting in the best interest of our tribe.

We want to make a big impact - please contact media and record/post to social media with pictures of the demonstration after the event.

We provide the independent reporting that non-Native, extractive outlets often overlook. We give our communities the context and the facts they need to make informed decisions.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we exist to illuminate tribal government decision-making for everyone who cares about transparency about Native issues. Because the consequences of restricted press freedom affect our communities every day, our trauma-informed reporting is rooted in a deep, firsthand expertise. Every gift helps keep the fire burning. A monthly contribution makes the biggest impact.
