Haskell Indian Nations University is staying open despite the challenges posed by widespread federal layoffs initiated by the Trump administration. Board of Regents member Brandon Yellowbird-Stevens, Oneida, assured the community on social media that the university will continue to operate, with classes disrupted by the layoffs being covered by existing faculty. Tribal leaders, BIE officials, and lawmakers are working on securing exemptions for affected employees.
