Marguerite Casey Foundation to grant $130M in 2025

April 24, 2025

The Marguerite Casey Foundation has committed $130 million in grants for 2025, significantly increasing its annual donations. The Seattle-based foundation aims to support nonprofits impacted by policy changes, particularly federal funding cuts and efforts to limit the independence of civil society organizations. According to Carmen Rojas, president and CEO of the foundation, the funding will help fill gaps in information and organizing efforts. The foundation’s donations will support both existing and new grantees, with a particular focus on journalism organizations, according to an Associated Press report.

We provide the independent reporting that non-Native, extractive outlets often overlook. We give our communities the context and the facts they need to make informed decisions.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we exist to illuminate tribal government decision-making for everyone who cares about transparency about Native issues. Because the consequences of restricted press freedom affect our communities every day, our trauma-informed reporting is rooted in a deep, firsthand expertise. Every gift helps keep the fire burning. A monthly contribution makes the biggest impact.
