Salish-Qlispe Culture Committee partners with Apple

Salish language keyboard available for newer devices

As part of ongoing efforts to preserve the traditional language and culture of the tribes headquartered on Montana’s Flathead Reservation, the Salish-Qlispe Culture Committee revealed a new partnership with Apple in October to debut a Salish language keyboard on various devices. As long as users are running iOS 27, they can now access a free Salish alphabet and toggle between English and Salish typing options seamlessly.

The committee that works with the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes in Ronan and the surrounding Mission Valley offers various language resources in addition to the new Salish keyboard. Some of these opportunities include an adult immersion program, language camps, and digital resources for learning and promoting the language.
