Federal officials from the Health and Human Services Department will travel from Washington, D.C. to Standing Rock, according to a statement from tribal leaders. A council meeting scheduled for Tuesday was moved to accommodate what the leaders referred to in the statement as “a very important meeting.”

Details about the visit remain unclear, including who from HHS will be attending the meeting.

Buffalo’s Fire has requested a comment from HHS officials and will provide an update when more information is available.
