our years after Zachary Bear Heels’ death, the family gathered in Omaha, Nebraska on Saturday, June 5, 2021 along with community members. Zachary was a 29 year old Native American (Sicangu/Rosebud, Kiowa Apache) man who was traveling by bus from South Dakota in 2017. After a struggle, involving Omaha officers, at a Bucky’s gas station at 60th and Center streets, Bear Heels stopped breathing and was later declared dead. Read more.
