This week in Michigan history: 2 Indians hanged in territory’s first executions as part of U.S.

Two American Indians, Ketaukah and Kewaubis, were hanged in Detroit on Dec. 27, 1821, for killing two white men — the first executions in Michigan after the territory became part of the U.S. Numerous people attended the hanging, according to Silas Farmer’s book “History of Detroit and Michigan.”read more
