Native voices, swaying red dresses, and sacred remembrance mark Springfield’s annual gathering for MMIW Day
On May 7, nearly 100 people gathered in Heron Park in Springfield, Oregon for the fifth annual Poetry in the Park event held in honor of Missing & Murdered Indigenous Womens Day. Poetry by Native women was recited, with participants moving among trees where red dresses swayed in the wind. Buffalo’s Fire senior reporter Brian Bull produced this video.
